Name: Sarah F. "Fran" Dean Date: July 22nd, 2010 Death Notice: Mrs. Sarah F. Dean, 85, passed away Thursday, July 22, 2010 at her home. Born April 30, 1925 in Hesperia to Forrest and Phoebe (Moore) Shaw, she married Arthur O. Dean August 31, 1946, and he died in 1999. She retired in 1986 as a secretary at the William J. Hipkiss Law Office after 29 years of service there. In her younger days she liked to ride roller coasters, and was somewhat of a "daredevil". Her family will remember her as liking to fish and travel and read, driving with a heavy foot, and as being very good at cards. HER SURVIVORS include her children: Nancy (Tom) Matthews of Fruitport, Deborah VanWyk of Norton Shores, Kevin A. (Robin) Dean of Kalamazoo, Brenda A. (Robert) Moler of Apple Valley, MN, and Steven C. (Theresa) Dean of Norton Shores; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Lloyd C. Shaw of Muskegon; and two sisters: Phoebe Jane Frick of Silver Springs, FL and Helen M. (Allen) Cox of Montague. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers and two sisters. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held for Mrs. Dean 12Noon Tuesday at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc., 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444, (231)-798-1100. with Rev. John H. Brown officiating. VISITATION will be one hour prior to the service.
