She was born on May 7, 1920 in Fondulac, WI to Louis and Carrie Lindsley. She was preceded in death by her husband, Irvin P. Vander Meiden; 2 brothers and 2 sisters. She is survived by 2 daughters, Rachel Vander Meiden and Hope (Brian) Webster; 6 grandchildren; sister, Donna Carpenter and many beloved nieces and nephews. Elaine was a devoted wife, mother and aunt. She was happiest at home or attending church. Her favorite hobbies were sewing and playing the piano. She was also an avid supporter of Christian education. The family will greet friends on Tuesday, March 2 from 4-7 p.m. at The Sytsema Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 737 Apple Ave. 231-726-5210. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 3 at First Wesleyan Church (1040 East Forest St.) with Rev. Brian Webster officiating. Interment in Lake Forest Cemetery.
