Name: James R. Luytjes Date: February 24th, 2010 Death Notice: Mr. James R. “Jim” Luytjes, age 70, died Wednesday, February 24, 2010 in Muskegon. He was born in Muskegon on June 30, 1939 to Rens and Henrietta (Laman) Luytjes and was a life resident. Mr. Luytjes was a veteran of the United States Marines. He had been employed in the family business at Luytjes Lumber Co. and later worked as an estimator for Cashway Lumber and L & M Roofing. Mr. Luytjes was a former member of First Reformed Church, a member of the Lithuanian Club and he enjoyed hunting. He is survived by two sons, Steven Luytjes and Lane Luytjes; one daughter, Kristi (Dennis) Porter; four step children, Diana Hutchinson, Betty (Donald) Harrison, Michael (Vicki) Vogelsong and Nancy (Jim) Younglove; several grandchildren and one brother, Kenneth (Deborah) Luytjes. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret D. (Vogelsong) Luytjes in 1997; his parents and one step son, Lee Vogelsong. SERVICES will be 1:00PM Monday at The Sytsema Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 737 Apple Ave. 231-726-5210 with Rev. Burt Wachter officiating. VISITATION will be one hour prior to the service.
